James Millner. He’s only gone and done it again! He has only gone and broke his own record for consecutive Premier League season appearances. Ten years in a row! Milner has achieved appearances for Premier League clubs in a staggering 33 consecutive seasons of top flight football.
Pictured below, the Brighton #6 James Milner now aged 48.

Choosing to stay at Brighton for what he calls his “twilight years”, Milner has continued to shine season in, season out. He is currently plying his trade with one of the child of Lewis Dunk, another Brighton Legend who retired some time ago. He is still, at the age of 48, beating everybody at the bleep tests in pre-season and shows no signs of wanting to slow down or retire.
The Inside Scoop
An fzeb source embedded deep inside the East Sussex club where Milner has plied his trade for the past decade (and then some) suggests that it’s all down to a magic serum that he purchases on Brighton Market ever Sunday morning.
When approached about his longevity in the game, James Milner had this to say to our reporter:
Age is just a number; it doesn’t matter. You are talking to somebody who was playing in the Premier League at 16, 28, 38 and now 48 so age is irrelevant if you are good enough to do the job.
Oldest Professional Footballer?
With Kazuyoshi Miura hanging up his boots at the end of the 2024/2025 season, Milner is just 10 seasons away from being the oldest playing professional footballer. Will it still be in the Premier League? Going off his current form, we can’t see Brighton wanting to let him go any time soon, so we are going to say yes! We suggest you watch this space and find out
All information in this post is purely fictional. If James Milner is still playing football in the Premier League in 2034, some will say that we have predicted the future and we are the new Nostradamus. We will just put it down to pure coincidence.
